Anxiety has gripped the Zimbabwean nation as people await the Presidential address this afternoon following the expiry of the 21 day national lockdown which was meant to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

The Southern African nation joined the rest of the world in enforcing a mandatory period of self quarantine as a way of restricting the spread of the disease.

Zimbabwe is a nation in distress given the state of the economy which is largely driven by the informal sector.

The government is expected to perform a delicate balancing act to ensure the safety and health of its people while making sure that productivity resumes so that families are fed.

Indeed it's not going to be an easy task choosing between life and a living given the severity of the disease as reported elsewhere in the world.

So far Zimbabwe, a nation of 17 million people, has so far fared fairly well in as far as mitigation and management of the disease with the nation recording a total of 24 positive cases, of which 3 have died and 2 have recovered.

This leaves the nation with a totalof 19 active cases under management.

If well managed the disease can be successfully contained, barring the unforeseen circumstances.

The nation awaits with hope and faith that a near perfect decision will be reached.
